Panchmasi Vidhi (પાંચમાસી વિધિ), also known as Panchmasi Sanskar or Panchmasi Puja, is a traditional ritual commonly practiced in Gujarati and other Indian communities. This ceremony is held during the fifth month of pregnancy to seek blessings for the well-being of the mother and the unborn child.   • Clean and decorate the home to create a pure, auspicious environment.

  • Arrange traditional clothing (often a saree or comfortable Indian attire for the expecting mother).

  • Prepare puja materials, including coconut (Shrifal), flowers, rice, betel leaves, betel nuts, incense sticks, diyas, sweets, fruits, and holy water (Gangajal).

Panchmasi Vidhi Ceremony Steps:

1. Ganesh Puja:

  • Begin by worshipping Lord Ganesh to remove obstacles and invite positivity.

  • Chant Ganesh mantra:
    "ॐ गं गणपतये नमः |" (Om Gam Ganapataye Namah)

2. Kalash Sthapana:

  • Place a Kalash (sacred copper or brass pot filled with pure water) topped with mango leaves and coconut.

  • This symbolizes abundance, health, and purity.

3. Navagraha Puja (Optional):

  • Pray to the nine planets (Navagraha) for their positive influence and protection.

4. Matru Puja (Mother Blessing Ritual):

  • The pregnant woman sits facing East, symbolizing life and renewal.

  • Relatives and elders bless her with rice grains, flowers, kumkum (vermillion), turmeric, and aarti.

  • She is adorned with floral jewelry, bangles, and new clothes, symbolizing prosperity and happiness.

5. Offering of Panchamrut:

  • Offer Panchamrut (a holy mixture of milk, curd, honey, sugar, and ghee) to the expecting mother as a symbol of purity, nutrition, and divine blessings.

  • It also represents prosperity and nourishment for the child.

6. Chanting of Auspicious Mantras:

  • Recite sacred mantras, including Garbha Raksha Mantras, Devi Stotras (Durga, Saraswati, Lakshmi), or specific Garbh Sanskar mantras.

  • A popular Sanskrit mantra is:

    "ॐ ह्रीम गर्भरक्षा नमः।" (Om Hreem Garbha Raksha Namah)

7. Blessings from Elders & Family:

  • Elders bless the expecting mother, praying for her safe pregnancy, healthy childbirth, and happiness of both mother and child.
